Help infertile couples by giving them the gift of life

Our anonymous egg donor program uses eggs donated from one woman to be used by another woman to achieve a pregnancy. The initial screening qualifications to be become an egg donor are:

  • between 21 - 32 years of age
  • height and weight within the normal range
  • no smoking or drug use
  • donors who have established fertility are desirable , but previous pregnancy is not required.

As a potential egg donor you will undergo medical, genetic and psychological screening, which is strictly confidential. There are several steps, which require some time and effort on the potential egg donor. These steps include filling out a medical and genetic history questionnaire, meeting with a psychologist for evaluation, drug screen to determine ovarian function, discussing your genetic history (usually by phone) with a genetic counselor, talking with a physician or nurse to confirm your medical history, and having blood drawn for testing. Once you meet all screening criteria, you will be added to our egg donor database which anonymously describes your physical traits and ancestry. Potential recipients will then have an opportunity to review this list and select you as their donor.

After a couple has selected you anonymously, you will see one of our Reproductive Endocrinologists. The fertility specialist will prescribe injectable medications to develop multiple ovarian follicles containing the eggs. Once properly stimulated, the eggs will be removed from your ovaries in a brief procedure using ultrasound as a guide. This "retrieval" is performed at Virginia IVF & Andrology Center under light sedation. After a brief recovery period (usually a few hours), you will be allowed leave and return to your normal activities. All donors must have someone to drive them home from the facility following retrieval.

Because the process is time consuming, and there will be some degree of inconvenience, you will receive a reimbursement of $4,000.00 on the day eggs are retrieved from you. By donating your eggs, you will be helping couples in an extraordinary way. At no expense to you, if you are a healthy 21-32 year old female and wish to become a part of this process, we invite you to complete our Egg Donation Form, Our donor egg nurse coordinator will contact you upon receipt of your inquiry.
