Virginia IVF & Andrology Center provides hormone testing (estadiol, progesterone, and Luteinizing Hormone) for our physicians to
monitor their patients during ovulation induction. Ovulation induction is the procedure by which a woman is given "fertility drugs" to stimulate her
ovaries to grow multiple follicles with eggs. This is done when a woman is undergoing an IVF cycle or is planning to have an intrauterine
insemination (IUI). Measuring the amount of estradiol in the patient's circulation combined with ultrasound measurements of her ovarian follicles
is important for our physician to closely monitor ovulation induction as it proceeds. Your physician will order any endocrine testing needed to monitor
your cycle. Since the large commercial testing laboratories are not capable of giving same day results, Virginia IVF & Andrology Center has provided
hormone testing that is rapid and reliable.
If you are undergoing ovulation induction for IVF or IUI, you will have your blood drawn at either your physician's office or at
Henrico Doctors' Hospital - Parham Road, draw station. Your physician's office will give you all necessary paperwork and instructions. After having
your blood drawn it is transported to Virginia IVF & Andrology Center, where it will be tested and reported to your physician the same day.
