At Virginia IVF & Andrology Center, our goal is to help infertile couples achieve their dream of a lifetime. Through our anonymous egg donor program, we aim to achieve that goal for women who are unable to produce or use their own eggs. To be considered as a recipient for donated eggs you must be 51 years old or younger and have a normal uterus.

Women of advanced maternal age (40 years of age or older) are the most common group that require use of donor eggs. The ability to conceive and maintain a pregnancy is directly related to a woman's age, such that few women are able to have children after 40 years of age. This decline in fertility is primarily due to the age of a woman's eggs, while the ability of her uterus to maintain a pregnancy is minimally affected by age. To overcome this age barrier our egg donors are young and healthy, and thus, use of donor eggs results in high pregnancy success rates.

If you are interested in receiving donated eggs, you will first need to see one of our Reproductive Endocrinologists who will perform a thorough evaluation of you and your partner. Below is a list of our Reproductive Endocrinologist that you may call to schedule an appointment.

Virginia IVF & Andrology Center's staff recruits, screens, and matches egg donors in our anonymous egg donor program. Our anonymous donors undergo rigorous medical, genetic, and psychological screening prior to being selected as an egg donor. Once a donor has been screened, they are placed in our Anonymous Egg Donor database describing their physical attributes and ancestry. If you are interested in receiving donated eggs you will have an opportunity to look at this databaseand select potential donors. You will also have an opportunity to review a more thorough medical and genetic history of our donors, and we will work closely with you and our Reproductive Endocrinologist to find a perfect "match."

Once you select an anonymous egg donor, she will then begin her egg donor cycle. She will be given fertility medications over the course of 7-10 days to stimulate production of multiple eggs. Simultaneously, the Reproductive Endocrinologist will be evaluating your uterus, and have you take hormone treatments to prepare your uterus to receive the embryos and support a pregnancy. You and your partner will also have to undergo blood testing for diseases which could impact the feasibility of a pregnancy using your selected donor. On the day of "retrieval" the anonymous egg donor will come to Virginia IVF & Andrology Center to have her eggs collected. On the same day, your partner will provide a semen specimen and his sperm will be used to fertilize the eggs. Three to five days later, you will come to Virginia IVF & Andrology Center and some of the embryos will be transferred non-surgically to your uterus in an attempt to establish pregnancy. Any embryos that are not transferred may be frozen and stored for future attempts to become pregnant. If you are interested in our Donor Egg Program and have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us using our Egg Donation Form. Our Donor Egg Coordinator will contact you after receiving your inquiry.
