When you arrive at Virginia IVF & Andrology Center , please check in at the front desk. You will need to complete a Patient Information Form and a Patient Instructions for Semen Collection Form if you have not already filled these out in advance.

  1. We will make a copy of your insurance card and/or take any payment at this time. Virginia IVF & Andrology Center is not participating with any insurance policies; so we expect payment at the time of service. In some cases, we may be able to bill your insurance carrier for your diagnostic semen analysis through our contract with LabCorp. If this is possible, we will notify you at the time of service.

  2. If you have an insurance referral or pre-authorization, please provide the information at check-in.

  3. The Andrologist will prepare the paperwork associated with your specimen. If necessary, you will be directed to the Andrology Laboratory waiting room while the paperwork is completed.

  4. If you are collecting your specimen at the Virginia IVF & Andrology Center , you will be given a Patient Instructions for Semen Collection Form and directed to a private, patient collection room.

  5. If you have collected your specimen at home, the Andrologist will receive and verify your specimen and your Patient Instructions for Semen Collection Form at this time.

  6. You will need to have a photo ID available for confirmation by the Andrologist.

  7. The results of your test will be faxed to the ordering physician within one week.

  8. Please contact your physician for the results and interpretation.

Virginia IVF & Andrology Center's Andrology Laboratory staff does not interpret and are not permitted to release any diagnostic testing results directly to our patients. However, your physician will be happy to share all our findings with you.
